Hello, I’m David and I founded PATRIAM in 2022. I started my journey into fashion as a collector when I was around 17, from there I became more and more interested in the design that went into each piece that I bought, what considerations were taken and what the aim of each piece was. When I started designing myself, I found that I was most inspired by workwear and militaria as these pieces are often designed with pure functionality in mind, this makes them perfect starting points for us to then twist and change the designs to suit modern, everyday needs.

My background outside of fashion is in engineering, having worked within the offshore energy sector for over ten years. I am currently working within renewable energy on offshore windfarms. I utilise my skills and experience from this when designing our garments, using logic and an analytical approach to remove superfluous details and focus purely on what's functional, in this sense our garments are genuinely engineered.

It is this experience that makes working with workwear pieces all the easier as I can envision what the end user requires and what they would see as unnecessary. Although our garments may never see the oil and grease of a workshop or industrial environment they are certainly designed to function without issue in that world.
